School fundraising

Together We Can Help Local Children

When your school supports Bluebell Wood, you’re doing so much more than fundraising. You’re supporting a local charity, strengthening your school community and showing children the power they have to make a real difference.

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for local children and young people with life-limiting conditions, supporting their families every step of the way. When your pupils get involved, it’s local children helping local children - a beautiful circle of compassion right here in our community.

Why Support Bluebell Wood?

Fundraising in schools isn’t just about raising money - it’s a powerful learning experience that stays with children for life.

By supporting Bluebell Wood, your school will:

  • Nurture Compassionate Citizens
Teach students the importance of giving back by supporting children and families in their own community who face extraordinary daily challenges. It’s an opportunity to grow empathy, kindness and understanding.
  • Promote Core Values
Encourage inclusivity, responsibility and community engagement - values that sit at the heart of every school. Supporting a local children’s hospice aligns with essential educational and personal development goals.
  • Experience Real-Life Learning
From planning events to promoting them, students develop teamwork, leadership and project management skills in a hands-on, meaningful way. It’s learning beyond the classroom all the while getting your school to engage with the local community.
  • Strengthen Your School Community
Fundraising brings staff, pupils and families together. It builds pride, unity and a shared sense of purpose.
  • Enhance Emotional Wellbeing
There’s something incredibly special about knowing you’ve helped a child and their family. Giving students the chance to make a genuine difference can boost confidence, resilience and emotional well-being.
  • Demonstrate Social Responsibility
Show your commitment to supporting your local community and build lasting, meaningful connections.

Let’s Make a Difference - Together

We would love to hear from you and explore how your nursery, school, college or university can partner with Bluebell Wood.

If you’d like more information about tailored opportunities and ways to get involved, our Regional Fundraiser, Hannah Goulding, who manages school partnerships, would be delighted to speak with you.

Fun and Inspiring Fundraising Ideas

We’ll support you every step of the way with ideas, resources and encouragement. You'll get the support of our dedicated Fundraising Team, who will make sure you have the help, tools and materials you need to engage your students, and make your fundraising a grade A success.

However you choose to get involved, we’ll be cheering you on. Here’s some of our more popular ideas that are easy to organise and have generated some incredible fundraising.

Wear it Purple Day
Invite pupils and staff to wear something purple for a small donation and celebrate the colour of Bluebell Wood while raising awareness of the care we provide.

Bake Sale
Fill your school with the smell of freshly baked treats and bring everyone together in a delicious way to raise vital funds.

Elf Dash
Take part in our magical annual Elf Dash and join hundreds of supporters dashing to make a difference. Boost their competitiveness with internal leader boards and punt yourself against local schools to drive fundraising.

Read-a-thon
Encourage students to turn pages into pounds by collecting sponsorship for every book they read.

Bring Bluebell Wood into Your School

Inspiring, Interactive Assemblies

Invite a member of the Bluebell Wood team into your nursery, school, college or university for an engaging assembly suited to your age group.

We can:

  • Share what Bluebell Wood does and who we support
  • Tell real stories about the children and families in our care
  • Raise disability awareness in a sensitive and empowering way

And when you’ve completed your fundraising, we’d love to return for a special cheque presentation - a moment to celebrate your incredible achievement and show your pupils the difference they’ve made.

Partnering with Bluebell Wood

We know every school is unique and we’ll work closely with you to create a partnership that feels right.

  • Tailored Opportunities
We’ll help you identify fundraising (and where possible, volunteering) opportunities that reflect your school’s values, interests and calendar.
  • Working Alongside Your PTA
We understand that schools also need to raise funds for their own priorities. We’re happy to work alongside your PTA so we can support each other and maximise impact.
  • Dedicated Visits
Our friendly Regional Fundraising Team can deliver engaging workshops and assemblies, tailored to different age groups.
  • Fundraising Resources
Access a fundraising pack with everything you need to get started, filled with ideas, practical tips, poster templates and sponsorship forms.
  • Recognition and Thanks
We love celebrating your achievements. We can provide thank-you letters, certificates and attend cheque presentations to recognise your school’s incredible efforts.
  • Ongoing Support
From your first idea to your final celebration, our team will be there to support you every step of the way.
