News News Andy makes his mark at Bluebell Wood in key financial role Meet Andy Lee, our finance and resources director. Andy, from Sheffield, joined the charity in March 2024 and is responsible for Bluebell Wood’s business operations and financial performance. He is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and before joining Bluebell Wood, he worked in the finance team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, was financial controller at British Cycling and has held various senior finance roles across 12 years at the University of Sheffield. Andy is also part of the strategic leadership team here at Bluebell Wood which is leading the charity forward and includes chief executive, Heidi Hawkins, Samantha Wood as income generation and communications director, Dr Michael Tatterton as chief nurse and Eve Holroyd who is care services director. The team, who each have extensive experience of the hospice, healthcare and charity sectors, are leading the hospice at an exciting time, after we recently announced a redesign of our service provision ensuring that our much-loved hospice can continue to deliver essential support for families and young people across South Yorkshire North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire for years to come. Andy said, "I am proud to have joined Bluebell Wood at such a pivotal time for the organisation. The team here is amazing and it is great to be a part of. With a background mainly in finance roles, I have always sought to work for organisations that inspire me with their values and positive impact on communities. "Since joining Bluebell Wood, my proudest achievement has been the teamwork that helped us agree a budget for the new financial year. "Outside work I'm often cycling or walking in the Peak District, occasionally catching some live music in Sheffield and planning trips abroad that always include cycling up a few mountains." Nicola Didlock, Chair of Trustees, said, “Andy is key member of the Bluebell Wood team providing us with a clear strategy for the operational and financial side of the charity. Sound financial and business planning is an increasingly important part of our work and Andy has a wealth of experience to support us and provides a stable foundation to ensure Bluebell Wood is here for the families that need us now and in the future.” It costs almost £6.5m each year to keep Bluebell Wood running, with only around 16 percent of funding from government and the remaining 84 percent generated by fundraising. All services are completely free to families who are referred to Bluebell Wood. Manage Cookie Preferences
