We did it...and it's all thanks to you!

Following on from our update in September last year, I am pleased to share that after a determined effort by everyone at Bluebell Wood, the hospice is able to provide 24/7 end of life care.

As you may know, in June 2022, we made a difficult decision to temporarily suspend our end of life care services in the hospice due to a shortage in care staff and a need to re-assess our care model. Since then, the team at Bluebell Wood have worked hard to rebuild and strengthen our workforce to ensure safe, high-quality care for children and families, whilst still offering planned short breaks in the hospice, alongside our community and family support services.

In September last year, we took a significant step forward by offering families the option to bring their child to Bluebell Wood after death, providing much-needed comfort during an incredibly difficult time. Since then, we’ve remained focused on our goal of developing a fully sustainable care model - and now, we’ve achieved it!

We give families choice and the very best care

Now, thanks to your continued support, we can provide 24/7 end of life care for babies, children, and young people at the end of their lives in our catchment.

We can give families the choice of where their children want to be when they die, whether this is in their home or in the hospice, families will have the very best care from our team.

We are incredibly proud to have reached our goal and be able to provide care services, that are better than ever, for more families at the most difficult time imaginable.
