Volunteers and our Facilities Team make Easter at Bluebell Wood Caroline has been volunteering at Bluebell Wood for around three years, bringing her time, care and passion both in the gardens and throughout the hospice. “I usually work in the garden,” she explains, “but at this time of year, I help with other jobs too. Today, I’ve been decorating the hospice for Easter, making it look bright and welcoming for families.” While gardening is her main role, Caroline is always happy to lend a hand wherever it’s needed, especially during the quieter winter months. From seasonal decorations to general support, her contribution helps create a warm and comforting environment for everyone who walks through the doors. For Caroline, volunteering is about much more than the tasks themselves. “It’s a lovely place to come, really welcoming. The people are wonderful, and I’ve made some great friends, especially with the other volunteers. We’ve got such a good gardening team.” Since retiring, volunteering has given Caroline something meaningful to focus on each week. “It gives you a sense of purpose. I wanted something to look forward to, and this just felt right. I enjoy gardening, so the two fitted perfectly together.” But it’s the feeling of giving back and what she receives in return that makes it truly special. “You’re giving something back to the community, but you get so much back as well. It’s just so rewarding.” Through volunteers like Caroline, Bluebell Wood continues to be a welcoming, supportive space for families, inside and out. Thank you to all of the volunteers who help us do what we do, every day of the year. We couldn't do what we do without you. Manage Cookie Preferences
