Bluebell Wood’s Income Generation and Communications Director, Samantha Wood brings a wealth of experience to her role at the North Anston children’s hospice.

Sam has successfully grown income and developed fundraising events at seven hospices across the region.

She has been at Bluebell Wood for five years and is a former Head of Fundraising for the charity. Sam has developed the income generation team, combining fundraising and marketing communications teams to work towards an ambitious strategy to increase funds.

Sam said, “Bluebell Wood is a loved and respected organisation across South Yorkshire, North Notts, North Lincolnshire and North Derbyshire for the unique care and support it provides to children and their families.

“I am proud and excited to be in a position to promote its work, strengthen long-term relationships, develop new ones and grow our income generation strategy."

We asked Sam what she was most proud of so far at Bluebell Wood. She said, “I am proud every day to be an employee of Bluebell Wood and to stand and represent the organisation is a privilege. In the time that I have been here, we have focused heavily on our sustainability and long-term growth of income generation and extend the reach of our brand and messaging to promote the amazing work of the hospice.

“It genuinely means the world to me to be able to do my job in the knowledge that it is helping families to cope with very difficult life situations.”

She commented, “Care requirements are more complex and varied at a children’s hospice in comparison to an adult hospice. There is often more of an opportunity for the teams to work alongside families, which I find both very rewarding and humbling.

“Becoming a parent has rooted me even more to the cause and I feel honoured to support a well-recognised children’s charity in the area where I live.”

We also asked Sam what her best moment has been this year. She said, “We have so many amazing supporters and volunteers in the communities we serve and I enjoy getting involved and seeing all the fun that can be had when fundraising. One of the best moments this year has got to be securing the partnership with Rotherham United Football Club and seeing our logo on the kit and in the stadium.”

“I’m excited to work with the team on more important partnerships like this as well as our three-year strategic plan and the ambitious income generation targets that we are working towards.”
